Exciting New Technology Advances the Future of Dentistry and Patient Care
We now have a truly amazing advancement in technology that clearly advances the future of dentistry. And after completing training this past week, our staff has come away astounded by what we can accomplish with this new technology―in both streamlining our work and more comfort and convenience for our patients.
You may know that over the past five years we have used an optical laser scanner for crowns and restorations. It increased accuracy and quality, and was much more comfortable for our patients. It eliminated the need for impressions and virtually brought a new era in dentistry to our practice.
Well, now we have taken this technology to the next step with the installation of the E4D, developed and manufactured right here in Richardson, Texas. The E4D system is a clinically proven technology that uses computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) to custom-create crowns, veneers, and fillings in our office. The E4D utilizes laser scanning technology, but also has a milling component. This milling component makes the crown while you wait.
Here’s a quick snapshot of how it works: Using the DentaLogic™ software, we use a hand-held scanning technology to obtain digital impressions of the patient’s teeth and smile. The scanning processallows us to design the patient’s crown, veneer, or filling. Once the design is complete, a metal-free, natural-looking material is placed in the milling unit where the high-speed instrumentation creates a precision crown, veneer or filling that fits the patient exactly. Start to finish, the entire process is so short that the patient receives his or her permanent restoration the same day, in the same visit. This software is so powerful that multiple restorations can be completed in a single dental visit! These restorations are metal-free, durable, and gentle to natural teeth, and allow us to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible.
Here are the benefits to you:
• Complete the entire process in one visit
• No second appointment to have your crown fitted
• No second visit requiring anesthetic―again
• No impressions
• No temporary crown that can come off
• Less sensitivity
• “Invisible” fillings with unsurpassed longevity
Carol L. was our first patient this week to receive the benefit of this technology. Here’s what she had to say:
“It was really amazing to watch the entire process as they scanned, designed and then magically produced a crown that fit mejust perfectly! There was no discomfort, and a process that would normally require two or more appointments was completed in one visit.”
It’s exciting that we can now have treatments that look just as beautiful as—if not better than—our natural teeth. This innovation in dentistry has made it possible for everyone to have both necessary and elective treatments—whether crowns, veneers or fillings—in just one dental visit.
We are so proud to offer the best patients in dentistry (you) the very best in dentistry available today.
